Description:

As an integral part of the Nashville CARES’ finance team, you will be responsible for financial, accounting, and grant support services to meet the needs of the organization. Working closely with the program leads, grant funders, and finance team, this position focuses on compliance, reporting, variance analysis functions, actual vs. budget reporting, reviewing/monitoring of grants and transactions for compliance with all federal and non-federal requirements, billing, journal entries, and forecasting.

Requirements:

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall financial, grant compliance, and project management support for programs funded through various foundation, federal, state, and local sources
  • Prepare monthly grant invoices, reconciliations, and reporting as needed
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reporting to funders as required, working with data department
  • Forecast funding and spending on grants to project underspending and overspending in grant programs, working with program staff to request budget line adjustments from funders when necessary
  • Maintain records of grant invoicing and status
  • Communicate monthly financial results to program staff, informing them of the financial position of the project and award balances
  • Assist in preparing budgets for new grants, renewals and revisions\
  • Support annual audit as well as grant/project audits
  • Read and summarize relevant information in grant contracts
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements in accounting system procedures to ensure accurate application of accounting principles

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of financial analysis/budgeting experience
  • Knowledge of accounting and budgeting theory and practices and GAAP
  • Excellent Excel spreadsheet skills, working with pivot tables, vlookups, and sumif functions
  • Professional proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook)
  • Automobile liability insurance and satisfactory DMV record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience in a non-profit organization
  • MIP software experience
  • CPA and/or MBA highly desirable
