Medical Records Specialist - Full-time
We are looking for a Medical Records Clerk for our busy cardiology practice. The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day preparation and maintenance of all medical records. This includes medical records requests, scanning documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), and handling of requests for patient records from outside clinics. Our Medical Records Clerk is required to have exceptional knowledge of HIPAA to ensure patient privacy, be diligent about confidentiality, and have exceptional organizational and computer skills.
Qualified candidates will have:
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (Preferred).
  • 1 or more years in a medical or hospital setting (Preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalency (required).
  • Attention to detail, ability to follow through (required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (required).
The following are some of the duties which may be required of you as a Medical records Clerk:
  • Help monitor (EHR) to ensure tasks are being completed for patient care.
  • Help coordinate chart audits with outside companies.
  • Knowledge & Understanding of HIPAA.
  • Knowledge & Understanding of Medical Records Rights to Access Policy.
  • Knowledge of processing medical records requests (General).
  • Knowledge of processing subpoenas.
  • Accurate copying and provision of medical records.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of how to research old medical records.
  • Understands and is knowledgeable of required patient forms (consent for treatment, etc.).
  • Understands and demonstrates proficiency in scanning charts and medical documentation into charts.
  • Understands and invoices for medical records appropriately.
  • In EHR, is able to document notes, conversations, etc., appropriately.
  • In EHR, is able to tasks employees in medical records.
  • In EHR, is able to respond to tasks appropriately.
