Job Summary

Nao Medical is seeking a reliable Laboratory Driver who will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of laboratory transportation services while upholding the highest standards of safety and sample integrity.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Transportation of Samples and Supplies: The primary responsibility of a Laboratory Driver is to safely transport samples, specimens, or medical and other supplies between various locations, such as healthcare facilities, clinics, laboratories, and testing centers.
  • Adherence to Safety Protocols: Laboratory Drivers must strictly adhere to safety protocols and regulations while handling and transporting potentially hazardous materials, ensuring the safety of themselves, the samples, and others.
  • Maintaining Sample Integrity: They are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the samples during transportation, ensuring that they are properly labeled, packaged, and handled to prevent contamination or damage.
  • Timely Delivery: Laboratory Drivers must ensure timely delivery of samples to their designated destinations, following predetermined schedules and meeting deadlines to ensure efficient workflow within the laboratory or healthcare facility.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: They are often responsible for the regular maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle used for transportation, including conducting routine inspections, performing minor repairs, and ensuring that the vehicle is in optimal condition for safe operation.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Laboratory Drivers are typically required to maintain accurate records of sample transportation activities, including documenting pickup and delivery times, maintaining logbooks, and ensuring proper documentation of chain of custody for forensic or legal purposes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Additional training related to driving, transportation, or the handling of specimens or hazardous materials is an advantage.
  • Valid Driver's License. A clean driving record is required, with no major traffic violations.
  • Must have a reliable source of transportation (like own car).
  • Safe Driving Skills: This includes knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and the ability to operate vehicles safely in various weather and road conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Must have a high level of attention to detail to ensure the accurate and safe transportation of samples. This includes carefully checking labels, following instructions for handling specimens, and maintaining proper documentation.
  • Time Management: They need strong time management skills to adhere to delivery schedules and ensure that samples are transported in a timely manner. This involves planning efficient routes, prioritizing tasks, and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills are essential to interact with laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. This includes clear verbal communication and the ability to follow written instructions accurately.
  • Physical Stamina: The job may involve lifting and carrying heavy loads, as well as spending long hours driving. Physical stamina and endurance are important to perform these tasks safely and effectively.
