Pfister Hotel is Hiring an Area Human Resources Director Near Milwaukee, WI

Description

Marcus Hotels & Resorts is excited to welcome a strong leader to support our presence as an essential part of the Milwaukee community. The Area Human Resources Director will directly oversee Human Resource services provided to The Pfister hotel, Mason Street Grill, The SafeHouse, Wisconsin Hospitality Linen Service, the Milwaukee area sales, revenue and accounting teams, and the remote based hotel reservations department. In total, approximately 475 associates. You will collaborate closely with our sister hotels, Hilton Milwaukee City Center and Saint Kate the Arts Hotel, and may provide guidance to those hotels as needed. The Area HR Director reports directly to the Managing Director, but will also work closely with the Marcus Hotels and Resorts corporate office, which is located in downtown Milwaukee.

What will you be doing?

  • Oversee all areas of Human Resources administration. This includes but is not limited to associate relations, recruiting and onboarding, training and development, benefit administration, leave of absence, workers compensation, policy compliance, union relations, culture building, and community involvement.
  • Directly oversee the Human Resources staff, which consists of a Human Resources Coordinator, Talent Acquisition Manager, and Assistant Director of Human Resources.
  • Lead labor relationships with three (3) unions that includes but is not limited to contract negotiations, contract compliance, contract training, and grievances.
  • Provide guidance on associate relations issues such as investigations, coaching/counseling, and policy enforcement.
  • Facilitate annual goal setting, performance reviews, salary increases, and bonus payouts for all eligible associates.
  • Develop annual budgets for salaried labor and HR operating expenses. Ensure expenses are forecasted correctly on a monthly basis.
  • Act as a member of the Executive Committee. Understand how to best support operational departments by working closely with your peers.
  • Serve as a strategic partner who helps develops high potential leaders and advocates for their progression.
  • Champion associate recognition and service excellence programs such as employee of the month, celebrating positive guest surveys, encouraging cross-departmental appreciation, and continuing to elevate service standards.
  • Ensure communication of and compliance with all policies, standards and practices, as well as federal, state and local legislation pertaining to employment law.
  • Provide Human Resources generalist oversight related to compensation practices, benefit plans and administration, leave of absence administration, workers compensation administration, as well as safety and security compliance.

What should you bring to the role?

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field required
  • 10 plus years of total HR experience, including responsibility for talent acquisition, associate relations, training and development, benefits administration, etc.
  • 5 years or more of proven HR leadership experience, preferably in a hotel, resort or hospitality setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with all levels of the organization
  • Budget management experience highly preferred
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft (HRIS) and/or Taleo Enterprise (ATS) helpful
