We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to contribute to our data governance program. This Technical Writer will have a direct role in creating internal documentation that facilitates standardization and consistency across our data sets. Candidates should have proven experience being a member of engineering and product management teams or similar teams focused on providing knowledge to stakeholders and experience driving documentation strategy for data management or analysis needs, and applications programming interfaces (APIs).

This role will be assigned to a data governance team. The individual selected for this role should be able to operate independently to learn about our data sets, create an end-to-end documentation strategy, and create data dictionaries. This individual should have exercised experience working with data teams such as product managers, data analysts, and data scientists, and data engineers. This person will be required to review code bases, extract data information, and document it with little guidance.

Job Duties

Draft and develop documentation which includes release notes, developer guides, API reference material, in-app guidance, and other product documentation.
Develop documentation plans and information gathering activities to extract information from product teams.
Build data dictionaries by reviewing code and interviewing data scientists, analysts, and engineers.
Collaborate with multiple product teams (i.e., engineers and product managers) towards the goal to build unique solutions that empower others to be financially strong.
Use independent judgment in significant technical issue evaluation and documentation.
Identify new documentation needs or opportunities.
Manage complex documentation projects with a focus on maintaining high standards for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
Communicate with management and project stakeholders, keeping them informed of project status, including conflicts and resolution plans.

Job Requirements

2 years of industry equivalent experience (experience in software or engineering internships or employment)
Experiencing owning technical writing or documentation processes
Demonstrated knowledge writing for a technical audience such as specifications for software or APIs
Experience creating business glossaries, data dictionaries, and data catalogs is desired
Demonstrated knowledge writing documentation for non-technical audiences such as user guides, support documentation, knowledge-base articles, etc.
Demonstrated knowledge writing for internal and external audiences
Knowledge of data formats and markup languages such as JSON, YAML,Markdown, and HTML
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a technical field, English, or Communications or equivalent experience.

Work Environment

At MX, we utilize a hybrid work model, which allows us to attract top talent and increase impact through collaboration. Our team members enjoy a balance of remote work and in-office days. Travel expectations for remote employees is about 15%, and the company covers travel expenses for remote employees. Local employees will utilize in-office time on a weekly basis Tuesday through Thursday. Both local and remote employees can take advantage of our incredible office space with onsite perks like company-paid meals, onsite massage therapist, golf simulator, and meditation room to name a few.

Compensation

The expected on-target earnings (OTE), which is comprised of a base salary and other forms of cash compensation, such as bonus or commissions is currently $81,000 to $97,000. This pay range is just one component of MX's total rewards package. MX takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location, skillset, peer compensation.
