Nature of Work
Oversee and manage company operations and project activities through subordinate supervisors. Implement plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives and maximize operating results. Responsible for business development, timely project performance, and meeting quality/specification requirements. May report to a unit president or to a vice president of operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Has accountability for and provides direction to mid- to senior-level staff on multiple projects simultaneously to ensure projects are completed per contract documents and schedule
• Manages issues or complexities related to the relationships with owners, vendors, subcontractors, and architects to help support team’s goals of timely project completion
• Has oversight of procurement of all scopes of work and review subcontract and purchase order agreements prepared by mid- to senior-level staff
• Provides input, oversight, and holds accountability for overall project schedule on multiple projects or all projects within respective department
• Holds ultimate responsibility for financial results of projects within department
• Approves and signs contracts, purchase orders, and changes orders per company policy limits
• Organizes, participates, and leads various project meetings
• Held accountable for the access to a safe work environment, as well as ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
• Performs detailed financial review and analysis of project budgets and monthly projections as a part of project review and business planning processes
• Participates in pre-construction reviews including design, estimate review and contract documents. Develops purchasing strategies and schedules
• Builds new and cultivate existing client relationships and assists in development of new business
• Participates in the identification of, interviewing, and selection of new team members throughout the recruitment and hiring process
• Visits project sites to monitor progress, maintain relationships, and verify quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
• Exercises initiative or, as directed, performs additional duties to meet the needs of the organization

In addition to the above responsibilities, this position will be responsible for the following:

• Participates in strategic planning process for overall division alongside senior leadership
• Drives results and be held accountable for department-specific goals and objectives
• Plans, staffs, supervises, and coordinates subcontractors, suppliers, architects, clients, engineers, project managers, superintendents, and quality control personnel on assigned projects to ensure a cohesive operational unit
• Participates in client and contractor contract negotiations
• Provided advice, guidance, and direction to mid- to senior-level staff toward their professional development
• Travels extensively to carry out functions of the position

Qualifications

• Actively leads, collaborates with, and functions well within a team-oriented environment across multiple projects
• Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents
• Proficient in general construction practices and principles
• Possess diversity across varying construction market sectors preferred
• Exhibits the ability to think strategically as it relates to business goals
• Proficient in accounting principles as it relates to construction
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite · Proficiency in project management, accounting, and scheduling software
• Experience with supervising or managing direct reports is required
• Experience in preparing and presenting presentations related to overall construction progress required

Education

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.

Experience

• Ten years or more of related work experience required.

Physical Demands/Working Environment

• Physical demands for this position are moderate. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be walking, standing, bending or carrying of items (25-50 pounds) such as plan documents, papers, books, parts, etc. There may be times of physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing or similar activities. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity. Requires a good ability to see, hear, and speak
• Standard project site environment may include machinery, parts and chemicals; may require protective gear.
