Job Description:
The position includes a high level of face-to-face contact with the public and requires a high level of customer service skills in an environment that values teamwork and positive partnerships. This position typically works two to three weekends a month for Visitor Services located in the JCPRD Administration Building at the entrance to Shawnee Mission Park.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Assist patrons with inquiries regarding park facilities and recreation programs.
Use a multi-line phone system to answer questions about JCPRD programs and services or direct calls to the proper staff.
Sell JCPRD permits and State of Kansas Fishing licenses through specialized software.
Facility reservations.
Distribute Park information.
Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service to patrons.
Days: Saturday, Sunday, holidays when park is open, and occasional weekday and evening hours may be available throughout the year.
Hours: Between 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Pay: $14.00 an hour
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
At least one-year general office work preferred.
Ability to adjust to quickly changing priorities.
Understanding of basic computer functions and ability to learn software utilized by the department.
Familiarity with JCPRD parks and state fishing requirements is a plus, but not required.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Minimum age of 18.
Must be able to work efficiently alone with minimal supervision.
Clear communication skills required.
Detail-oriented and works well under pressure.
Must possess excellent customer service skills face-to-face and via telephone.
Ability to make sound decisions and use good judgment.
Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures.
JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
