Since 2011, our affiliate, Yamasho Inc. takes pride in providing a variety of restaurant items ranging from non-food to dry and frozen food products to our restaurant customers in its current location in Elk Grove, IL. Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintains records on the Company NAV system including inventory adjustment, price change, and container list
  • Ensure adequate volume of products and create purchase orders based on sales volume and inventory. 
  • Physically pick various items or receive shipment, inspecting their quantities and qualities in the warehouse 
  • Process receipts and invoices for payment
  • Sets up both stock and vendor numbers 
  • Communicates with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure efficient transfer of goods through the regulated process
  • Communicates with trucking companies to ensure proper transfer of goods
  • Prepares ocean and air shipments cost calculations for foreign and domestic purchases
  • Ensure supply product meets level of standards 
  • Work with warehouse department to ensure correct quantity, satisfactory quality, and proper receiving of purchased goods
  • Attend Company events and functions outside of normal working hours
  • Other duties as required by branch manager
  • Obligation to answer to all management as requested
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit in an office setting for an extended period of time
  • Able to type and use a computer for extended periods throughout the day
  • Standing and walking for an extended period of time 
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 70 pounds occasionally
  • Able to operate forklift to receive the shipment in the warehouse and inspect product quality 
Working Conditions:
  • Noise Level: Normal to loud while in the office
  • Temperature fluctuations while in Warehouse
Other Requirements:
  • Business level English required
  • Business level Japanese required
  • Maintains a positive attitude 
  • Able to work independently and as a team 
  • Able to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in business preferred
  • 2 years of purchasing experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Intermediate mathematical knowledge – profit margin calculations, markups, discounts, combining/converting measurements, counting inventory, etc.
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Knowledge of Japanese foods and sakes preferred
  • Knowledge of Japanese pottery and dishes preferred
