We have an opening for a Board Relations Manager to join the Development team at MCA Chicago. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Manager proactively, professionally, and administratively supports and enables the Pritzker Director, CDO, and Trustees to successfully lead and govern the MCA. This position carries primary responsibility for the execution of Trustee meetings, events, and activities, ensuring proper governance in line with the MCA’s bylaws, and supporting Trustee engagement with the museum. To be successful in this role, you must:
• Build and manage the full calendar of Board of Trustees and Committee meetings, including pre-planning, collecting, and disseminating advance material, preparation, and follow-up.
• Build and manage schedule for all MCA Committee meetings and communications, including maintaining current Committee lists and contact information and sharing membership updates and transitions as needed in Board Effect
• Serve as project lead for Board Effect software, being a source of support for all users.
• Manage and update Trustee Portal; update and maintain Board Directory for public dissemination; and partner with Development staff to renew and distribute annual Trustee membership cards.
• Manage Trustee events ranging from small in-home events to larger cocktail receptions for Board of Trustees or other donors as needed and assigned. Manage VIP visits for campaign donors either as a part of solicitation process or following. May be tasked with leading an internal team to coordinate on behalf of the Director as needed.
• Serve as liaison to Development to coordinate staff and Board efforts on successful fundraising goals and expenses; work with Development staff to coordinate efforts of both offices regarding Trustee gifts, birthdays, bereavement gifts, and the like.
• Manage all Board orientation activities, ensuring internal stakeholders are prepared and Trustees receive a thorough welcome to the MCA.
• Work with Board and Committee Liaisons to ensure the Chief Development Officer is prepared and staffed for Board of Trustees and Committee Meetings.
• Serve as an institutional notary.
\nQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This is a full-time position, with a Monday - Friday 9a-5p schedule that may occasionally include evening and weekend availability as required to fulfill responsibilities and for related museum activities. Ability to operate computers, printers, and telephones and general mobility throughout all museum properties required.
