Job Title: Request for consideration – Lieutenants – Office of Policy, Standards, Evaluation & Compliance (OPSEC)

Dept/DIV: MTAPD/OPSEC

Supervisor: Commanding Officer, Administration

Hours of Work: Four (4) 10.16 Hour Days (Rest Days F/S/S or S/S/M)

Summary:

The Department is seeking applications from qualified Lieutenants who are interested in being considered for assignment in the Office of Policy, Standards, Evaluation, &Compliance (OPSEC)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Accreditation Program of New York
  • Lead the Accreditation Program process for the State of Connecticut
  • Lead the Accreditation Program process for Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA)
  • Ensure that all existing and newly developedmanual sections are professionally developed and updated to reflect industry best practices.
  • Regularly verify the status of the Departments compliance with the Accreditation Standards
  • Regularly conduct spot checks of program files
  • Review Department policies and procedures to ensure they are current as required by laws.
  • Act as liaison for the Departmentwith DCJS, NYS Commission of Correction, CT POST Council, and NYS Family Court pertaining to Accreditation.
  • Be available at any time for Accreditation compliance auditors and assessors.
  • Prepare the Department’s Annual Compliance Survey for the Chief of Police
  • Perform monthly audits of the MTAPD High Overtime earners as requested by MTA Headquarters
  • Manage the assigned duties of OPSECs personnel.
  • Assistant Accreditation Program Manager of the Department
  • DCJS Accreditation Program Assessor
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Commanding Officer of Administration, Commanding Officer of Training, Chief of Administration, and Chief of Operations

Qualifications:

Interested employees must, at a minimum, possess the following qualifications to be considered for this position:

  • Good working knowledge of the existing MTA Police Department Manual and applicable laws
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong reading comprehension
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office programs, Adobe, various programs used in accreditation.
  • Proficiency in internet research
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Be self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to meet deadlines establish by the accreditation agencies.

Other Information

Sergeants that are eligible to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant may apply for this position.

Given the nature of this assignment, candidates disciplinary record will be taken into consideration.
