MT is Hiring a DIRECTOR PLANT OPERATIONS Near Baltimore, MD

JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for Plant Operations and Maintenance, Customer Service, and Environmental Services Departments. Plans, develops, organizes and directs programs, to maintain hospital building, grounds and equipment in accordance with applicable codes and regulations and administrative guide lines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

  • Ensures efficient daily operations and effective maintenance of the physical plant, grounds and equipment of the hospital
  • Ensures the hospital environment is sanitary, attractive and in orderly condition
  • Plans for and oversees major repairs, renovations and new construction
  • Effectively manages departmental contract services
  • Ensures that the facility complies with all codes, standards and laws
  • Develops and implements programs and policies to ensure the highest quality service at the lowest possible cost
  • Exhibits effective employee relations skills and provides ongoing support to staff
  • Monitors, assesses and makes necessary adjustments regarding departmental operations to assure quality of service.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities in improving the services provided to customers
  • Communicates effectively with staff and serves as a resource by providing technical knowledge to individuals seeking advice and assistance

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Administrative discipline An AA degree with a minimum of three years of healthcare facilities management supervisory experience may be substituted.

  • Other Requirements Specific to Assigned Area
  • A professional engineering license is preferred but not required
  • Progressively responsible experience in engineering and/or facilities management. Health care experience preferred. Proven negotiation capabilities with vendors as to pricing and project cost effectiveness.
  • Ability to prepare, oversee and administer budget for the departments.
  • Prepares and reviews all specifications for quotes or bids in areas related to building and grounds.
  • Maintains a coordinated inventory control program for all areas of responsibilities
  • Knowledge of building, construction, plumbing, electrical and mechanical codes and healthcare cleaning standards required.
  • Additionally required is knowledge of TJC, NFPA, MOSH and OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge of computer spreadsheets and word processing software programs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Supervision Received
  • Reports to the Vice President Human Resources & Support Services, but functions independently managing daily operations in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Supervision Exercised
  • Maintenance Manager, Manager Environmental Services and Customer Services staff

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Interfaces daily with Executive Staff, Department Heads and other professional and no-professional healthcare personnel. Works closely with and oversees contractors and vendors

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED

  • Computers and spreadsheets and word processing software programs

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Subject to stress due to emergency situations and multiple demands. May be required to work long hours. Prolonged extensive or considerable standing/walking. Maybe exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical power equipment and toxic chemicals. An employee in this position has little or no risk of exposure to body fluids, infectious waste or blood borne diseased. Employee will be instructed in the proper use of personal protective equipment and specific protocol if assigned to duties where there may be risk.
