ATTENDING PHYSICIAN

JOB SUMMARY

• Under the direction of the vice President Medical Affairs, is responsible for all clinical and interdisciplinary management of assigned patients from birth to 18 years of age.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

• Provides medical supervision, team coordination and oversight for all aspects of care for assigned inpatients and outpatients
• Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures
• Participated in the regular on call and back up activities for the medical staff
• Provides in service training to staff and participates in the educational programs for students and resident
• Provides consultations MWPH patients upon request in area of specialization
• Assures compliance in clinical practice and administrative duties as defined in TJC and CARF Accreditation Standards

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Educational Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited Medical School
• Completion of ACGME approved residency training program in Pediatrics

• Licensure, Certification and Registration
• Work Orientation and Experience
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Other Requirements Specific to Assigned Area

• Licensed to Practice Medicine in the State of MD
• Board certified in Pediatrics
• CPR and PALS certification

• Minimum two years of clinical experience

• Supervision Received

• Reports to the Vice President Medical Affairs

• Supervision Exercised

• Nurse Practitioners, Residents and Students assigned to the program

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

• Effective communication skills which demonstrate courteous, responsive, and discrete treatment of patients, families, colleagues and other staff members

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED

• Operates computer using Meditech software, Windows Office software (Excel, Word, etc)
• Uses on line health information network system, electronic and medical records

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS

• Typical health care environment. Routine stress due to multiple demands, shifting priorities and time frames. High risk of exposure to body fluids, infectious waste or blood borne disease. Employees will be instructed in the proper use of personal additional protective equipment and specific protocol if assigned to duties where there may be risk.
