The Technical Project Manager is responsible for delivering technology projects of medium to high complexity across Madison Square Garden’s various businesses. The Technical Project Manager works with colleagues to plan, design, and execute projects of strategic importance to the organization. The skills to effectively deliver communicate, collaborate, and work in a matrixed organization are essential to success in this role.
What will you do?
· Ensure Technology projects are completed on time, within budget and with value-added results.
· Create, maintain, and distribute project documentation, meeting minutes and deliverables on a timely basis using ServiceNow PPM, Confluence, Jira
· Develop detailed project plans based on requirements, scope, budget, and required deliverables.
· Issue, scope and risk assessment and management.
· Communicate with management to ensure risks are properly addressed and escalated as necessary
· Effective and frequent communication to project sponsors, resources and management around project status, budget, scope and timeline.
· Proactively seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in overall project management approach.
· Use influence and insights to help the business achieve its goals and to make appropriate use of Technology resources.
· Work with Technology Project Management Office to develop and implement PMO processes and policies.
· When appropriate, work with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs.
What do you need to succeed?
· Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management
· 7 years’ experience as a project manager
· 10 years of Information Technology and/or PMO experience
· BA/BS in business, IT, business technology and/or equivalent practical experience and current Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certifications
· Expertise in planning, budgeting, and project management
· Experience in managing complex upgrades and implementations to financial or other back-office systems
· Experience in managing technology infrastructure projects
· Expertise in software development projects agile and/or scum master
· Ability to build credibility and strong customer relationships as a trusted technology advisor
· Ability to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels in a matrix-management environment as well as with external vendors and service providers
· Ability to adapt to new initiatives and changing priorities in a rapid fashion
· Experience in the entertainment or sport industry
· Ability to problem solve and utilize crisis management skills
