MRC Global is Hiring a Corporate Safety Manager Near La Porte, TX

Overview

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide. We have an immediate opening for a Corporate Safety Manager.

Job Purpose: Responsible for Data Analysis; Report Creation; Maintenance of 3rd Party databases; Updating MRC Global HSE policies; presenting training; Coordination of Corporate safety functions such as ER Drills; Various Departmental Projects

Responsibilities

Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Promote, assign and coach ongoing professional development of reporting safety team members including planned work experiences, continuing health- and safety-related education, professional conferencing and networking;
  • Stay current with all regulatory and customer requirements that affect MRC;
  • Develop safety programs, policies, and procedures to comply with regulatory, company and customer requirements;
  • Inspect and/or tour MRC’s facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommend corrective or preventive measures where indicated;
  • Devise, coordinate, and/or conduct safety training for related policies and programs;
  • Track injury trends; facilitate incident investigations; determine root causes and follow-up corrective actions;
  • Consult with Regional Distribution Center (RDC) and branch management in hazard and risk assessments, safety inspections, behavior-based observations and the identification of safety improvement opportunities;
  • Prepare material and evidence for MRC’s use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations;
  • Facilitate management’s recognition for employee participation in safety programs and initiatives as well as individual and team performance;
  • Oversee the maintenance, reporting, and filing of safety and health-related records for all MCR locations; including regulatory, company and customer-required reports as well as hazard communication files (MSDS, Labels, Technical Notes, etc.) for Corporate Purchasing;
  • Travel (avg. 35%) to MRC branches as required to introduce and facilitate RDC and branch implementation of safety policies, programs and initiatives;
  • Assign projects and duties as required to assigned safety team members.
  • Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others; report workplace hazards, injuries, or illness immediately.

Qualifications

Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience that provides the knowledge and
  • abilities necessary to perform the work;
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience to include health, safety and environmental regulations, safety management practice and behavioral sciences;
  • Strong leadership ability, excellent decision-making skills and the ability to provide clear focus and direction;
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to partner, influence and work effectively with management and outside third parties and positively interact with employees and coworkers;
  • Demonstrated abilities, knowledge and understanding of concepts such as: HSE Management Systems, Hazard Identification, Hazard and Risk Identification, Analysis and Assessment, techniques for monitoring and improving Safety Performance, preparation, development and delivery of safety training;
  • Ability to be flexible, motivated, resourceful, independent, reliable and organized in a multi task environment;
  • Ability to travel as needed to all MRC locations (both scheduled and unscheduled), and work scheduled and unscheduled overtime;
  • Valid Driver’s license with the ability to meet the MRC vehicle policy.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status;
  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and to respond to inquiries;
  • Ability to understand and comply with MRC guidelines and expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
