General Function:

Assist the Controller with managing accounts payable, budgeting, general ledger functions, and financial reporting as well as filing required regulatory reports and internal audits.

Essential Functions:

Financial Management

  • Assist Controller with managing activities of accounting functions, such as accounts payable, budgeting, collections, and general ledger.
  • Assist Controller with preparing and presenting reports, month-end and year-end closing process, and other necessary information for financial analysis.
  • Assist Controller with the review, approval, and monitoring of accounts payable. Monitor delinquent accounts receivable.
  • Assist Controller with filing necessary returns for federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Assist Controller with booking necessary journal entries on a monthly basis.
  • Assist Controller with advising management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Assist Controller with reviewing company financial statements for accuracy and clarity.
  • Prepare annual financial statement footnote disclosures.
  • Assist with audits and feedback reports.
  • Oversee the Bank s Internal Controls over Financial Reporting program to ensure compliance with FDICIA requirements, including designing and implementing enhancements to strengthen control processes, communicating with control owners to ensure controls are operating effectively, and interfacing with internal and external auditors to address issues noted during audits.
  • Assist CFO with credit analyses of new security purchases.
  • Review complementary user entity controls within SOC reports for FDICIA vendors to ensure necessary controls are in place at the Bank.

Budget Analysis

  • Assist Controller with monthly balance sheet account analysis as well as budget vs. actual analysis
  • Assist Controller with preparation of budgets and track budget variances by branch and/or cost center.
  • Assist Controller with the preparation of the Branch Financial Analysis and assist with internal audits of each branch as appropriate.
  • Assist Controller with vendor analysis reports.
  • Assist Controller with reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.

Compliance

  • Diligently protect confidential information, and assist the Bank in ensuring that all confidential and sensitive information is handled appropriately.
  • Maintain an active awareness and understanding of policies, procedures, designated authorities, regulations, and laws, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, etc. Follow these at all times.
  • Communicate openly with supervisors and other management about policies, procedures, work conduct, and job functions. Ask questions to clarify any uncertainty in issues.
  • Address and report suspected violations of policy, procedure, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, and other laws and guidelines, as outlined in the Code of Conduct. Reported information will be kept confidential.
  • Participate in training sessions and policy updates as necessary. Assist with coordination of scheduling as appropriate.

  • All Team Members should provide consistently positive, effective, helpful service to all customers, both internal and external.
  • Assist other managers or Team Members as needed
  • Management or Bank policy may revise, delete, or add responsibility as necessary

Activity

  • Ability to operate office equipment, telephones, and computers
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, in person, in writing, and on the computer
  • Ability to hear, speak, and understand verbal communication
  • Ability to read, write, count, and perform basic math functions
  • Ability to move head, shoulders, neck, and arms freely (e.g. operation of office equipment)
  • Ability to use manual dexterity and fine manipulation for operating a keyboard, using equipment, filing, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, grasp, reach, and pull
  • Ability to think, remember, learn new information, and apply cognitive data to job functions
  • Ability to assess and concentrate on mental and physical job tasks to see them to completion
  • Ability to drive oneself independently for travel between locations

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years experience in all aspects of accounting
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Windows, Word, Excel, e-mail
  • Problem solving and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Banking industry experience
  • Knowledge of current banking regulations and operations
