** Retail Manager - Buyer (Year Round Position)**

**Description**
****ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES****
* Manage daily operations, including daily sales operations, information sharing and display to meet departmental standards.
* Manage all selection and ordering of merchandise for all retail locations and work with HR and Skier Services Director for uniform purchasing. Actively research resort industry trends, Attend outdoor industry retail shows (virtually and physically).
* Research and stay current with merchandising trends. Manage and be creative with merchandising goods to maximize sales and provide high quality store aesthetics.
* Actively work the retail shop floors and sales desk, engaging with customers, soliciting feedback from customers and adjusting operations as necessary to meet/exceed customer expectations.
* Recruit, hire, orient, train and monitor service levels of all retail shop staff. Ensure that staffing levels meet customer demand and budgetary targets.
* Maintain staff performance to meet or exceed customer expectations and departmental standards by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
* Take inventory on designated schedule. Monitor and maintain appropriate equipment inventory levels. Take action when inventory levels require re-ordering. Make recommendations to the Skier Service Director of additional or new products that should be considered for the store to meet customer demand. Manage the receiving of merchandise, loading it in POS/inventory system, tag and display or store (as appropriate).
* Lead Demo shop location supervisors in selecting/ordering demo equipment. Load inventory it in POS/inventory system, tag and stage or store (as appropriate). Maintain demo equipment asset inventory system to control lost, stolen, sold, and damaged demo equipment.
* Ensure completion of daily and monthly business reports to maintain accurate and up-to-date record of revenues, monitor and maintain appropriate cash levels in register and change banks.
* Maintain certification from binding manufacturers and stay current with technical developments in the industry. Ensure compliance with ASTM requirements
* Achieve financial objectives. Assist Skier Services Director in preparing annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
* Review staff hours worked to ensure accuracy and complete payroll functions.
* Complete weekly staff schedules to align with business needs and labor budget.
* Complete employee performance reviews to ensure regular communication of job performance with each staff member.
* Resolve customer concerns/problems to the satisfaction of the customer and protection of the companys interests.
* Comply with all legal, regulatory and industry standards equipment for retail sales and providing customer information about the products in the shop, at the resort and the resorts offerings.
* Maintain a clean, professional and compelling retail ambience in the shop and all work areas. Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean environment.

****JOB QUALIFICATIONS****
****Experience:** Minimum of 5 years of retail and/or rental equipment shop management experience. Outdoor or ski-related product retail and/or rental equipment shop management experience strongly preferred. Outdoor hardgood/softgood buying experience required.**

****Education or Formal Training:** High school diploma or GED required. Retail or business degree or certification preferred. Current certification as rental equipment binding technician/trainer preferred.**

****Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:** Solid knowledge of merchandising, retail/rental shop operations, outdoor industry buyer experience, accounting principles, employee management. Possess excellent customer relations and problem solving skills.**
****

****MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED****
**Point of sale cash register systems and simple office equipment, ski equipment, binding adjustment equipment and tools.**

****WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES****
**100% of the workday is spent in a retail environment working with guests and staff. 50% of the workday is spent standing and 50% is spent walking. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Constantly engaged in normal conversation. Occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and feeling. Atmospheric conditions occasionally include fabric/dye fumes, odors, dusts and poor ventilation. Frequent exposure to mechanical hazards, burns, radiant energy and toxic or caustic chemicals.**
