Purpose, Scope & Dimension of Job:The Mentoring Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing and administering the college's student success mentorship program. The coordinator will recruit, select, train, and match mentors with student mentees to enhance the student's college experience, including academic success, personal growth, and career readiness. The coordinator will work with stakeholders across the campus to acquire mentors from staff, faculty, alumni, and students. The coordinator will work with the Director of Student Success and Accountability to develop program guidelines, establish measurable outcomes to monitor and evaluate the program's effectiveness, and foster the mentor mentee relationships while making adjustments as necessary to ensure the program's successful growth and student success. Minimum Requirements | 1. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience. (e.g., Human Services, Community Engagement, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or similar) 2. At least three (3) years of experience in a mentoring or coaching role. 3. Experience coordinating or administering a mentorship program. 4. Experience with recruiting and managing, preferably volunteers. 5. Experience with program assessment and evaluation to make a data-driven decision. 6. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population in a variety of settings. 7. Knowledge of best practices in student success and retention. 8. Knowledge of FERPA, relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to student affairs. |
Additional Desirable Qualifications | 1. Prior experience developing and implementing a mentorship program from the ground up. 2. Prior experience with teaching and learning strategies that keep students engaged. 3. Ability to manage mid-sized projects with limited resources. 4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 5. Strong organizational and time-management skills. 6. Strong problem-solving skills. 7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 8. Experience in mentoring software. 9. Experience in student success management tool (i.e. EAB Starfish). 10. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to perform basic data analysis. 11. Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite and other computer applications. |
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions | 1. Must be willing to be mobile based on the demands of student needs 2. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery 3. Occasionally carries light loads (approx. 30 lbs. or less) 4. The person in this position constantly communicates with others on the full range of topics covered in this job description. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. |
Work Schedule | Full-time, 40 hours per week/52 weeks per year. In order to meet operational needs, the position requires the ability to work a schedule that includes occasional evening and weekend hours. |
