Annual Salary: $140,000 to $150,000 - commensurate with education and experience.

The Mosholu Montefiore Community Center (MMCC) is the largest not-for-profit provider of quality education, employment, and health and recreation programs in the impoverished neighborhoods of the Bronx and its surrounding counties, serving the needs of more than 35,000 residents each year. Since our founding as a neighborhood community center in 1942, MMCC has served the needs of thousands of neighbors from all cultural backgrounds, religions, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and special needs. Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Finance will be responsible for overall financial activities for the organization. The Director of Finance will work closely with program leaders and their staff, not only to educate them regarding grants procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations. We are looking for someone with a passion for organizational management, a background in finance, a strong background in nonprofit management and a track record in finance, human resources and organizational development. A commitment to MMCC is important.

Key Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the annual finance planning/budgeting processes and prepare the annual operating budget.
  • Work with staff and the CFO to develop and implement program and organizational budgets.
  • Prepare monthly profit/loss, balance sheet and cash flow financial statements. Monitor, interpret and present financial results of operations and programs each month.
  • Coordinate the annual audit with an independent auditor and prepare the IRS schedule.
  • Oversee payroll, payroll liabilities, and benefits including PTO accrual and retirement plans.
  • Create and maintain excellent financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure efficient functioning and documentation for all financial systems including receipts, disbursements, billing, budgeting, and accounting.
  • Prepare budgets and financial reports for foundation grants and track reporting of foundation project/program budgets and expenditures. Work with the foundation team and management team for timely grant proposal and grant report submissions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e., business, nonprofit management, accounting, finance, economics, math). Master’s degree is preferred. employment start date.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit experience with a preference for10 years of experience with a range of nonprofit, corporate or government experience. A detailed understanding of nonprofit finance and accounting functions is critical.
  • Capacity for managing and leading people; ability to connect to staff both individually and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability; ability to develop and empower leaders from the bottom up and lead from the top down; strong commitment to follow-through; and high emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to think creatively about staffing and organizational structure.
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends and incorporate them into the organizational planning.

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shift, day shift, evenings, as necessary.

Annual Salary: $140,000 to $150,000 - commensurate with education and experience
