Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning the technical approach and performance of independent airworthiness evaluation of tactical aviation system software during all phases of the system/software life cycle including planning, requirements definition, architectural design, detail design, implementation, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Provide software engineering evaluation and airworthiness assessment of aviation system software
- Evaluate the bi-directional traceability of safety significant functions to system requirements, software requirements, architectural design, detailed design, implementation, integration, and test/verification
- Perform evaluations of the artifacts developed in response to the airworthiness qualification requirements, standards and regulations
- Evaluate the technical correctness, completeness, consistency
- Prepare project technical status and progress reports
Qualifications:
- ABET accredited BS in an Engineering discipline, e.g., Computer engineering or software engineering, or BS in Computer Science or related technical area
- 11 years of related software experience with a Bachelor's, 7 Years of Experience with a Master's
- Background in software engineering
- Knowledge of the complete system/software life cycle and development process
- Ability to perform limited travel
- Active Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a team player, with demonstrated professional acumen
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Airworthiness software applications
- Knowledge and Experience with the application and/or certification or qualification of aviation software in accordance with (IAW) RTCA DO-178C and its associated supplements, e.g. DO-331 or comparable DoD standard (ex. Army Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria)
- Familiarity with System/Software modelling processes and languages, including System Modeling Language and Unified Modeling Language
- Experience with Programming languages, e.g., C, C , Ada, Python, or other programming languages
- Experience with software product lines and the integration of reusable software components
- Familiarity with Future Airborne Capability Environment Conformance Certification standards and the Army’s Modular Open System Approach.
