MSIM U.S. Public Markets - Product Development Overview

 

The U.S. Public Markets Product Development Team, based in New York, collaborates with Portfolio Management, Distribution, Senior Management and various internal stakeholders on the development and implementation of Global Equity, Global Fixed Income and Multi-Asset investment products in an effort to support MSIM’s overall business strategy and key strategic initiatives.The Team manages new products through the entire product lifecycle from the idea generation stage through the approval process and ultimately to successful operational launches across multiple asset classes and vehicle structures. The U.S. Product Development Team covers a wide breath of institutional, intermediary, and retail product launches across a range of investment strategies (e.g. Emerging Markets Equity, Global Equity, Global Listed Real Estate/Infrastructure, Global Multi-Asset, Global Fixed Income including HY, IG, CLOs, and ESG-focused among others). The Team collaborates on a global basis leveraging relationships across the firm and covers a variety of vehicle structures (e.g. 1940 Act open-end/closed-end funds, exchange traded funds, limited partnerships, collective investment trusts, institutional separate accounts/strategic partnerships, Cayman offshore funds, and Canadian pooled trusts) across jurisdictions (United States, Cayman-Offshore, Canada).

Job Description & Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with Investment Teams, Distribution & Marketing, Legal & Compliance, and Operations to execute new product launches, mergers/strategy transitions, liquidations, and provide ongoing support to the product platform.
• Project Management of new product launches (idea generation, market research and development of business case), platform enhancements and rationalizations, and managing internal MSIM Committee/Board approvals.
• Conduct market research and analyses on competitor funds, performance, and global investment trends using various fund databases to support product development initiatives and also support presentations to Senior Management and MSIM Committees/Boards to assess marketplace viability.
• Assist supporting the existing product line to ensure commercial success and provide ongoing support to platform that evolves in response to Investment Team strategic initiatives, client requirements, the competitive marketplace, and/or regulatory changes.

• Bachelors degree with 5-10 years of industry experience. 
• Broad understanding of the asset management industry in either a product development, business strategy, marketing, or product management role, as well as thorough knowledge of the markets and investment management products. In general, the ideal candidate must possess a balance of commercial awareness, project management capabilities, and business analysis skills.• Candidate should be energetic, self-starter and team-oriented who thrives in a dynamic environment.

• Experienced professional who understands how to navigate a large global organization, communicates clearly, gains consensus, and supports time-sensitive product initiatives.
Strong work ethic and a desire to learn.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to manage projects independently.
• Effective communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to write effectively.

• Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

• Experience with databases such as Morningstar, Strategic Insight Simfund, or Evestment, a plus.

• Series 7, MBA, CFA a plus.

 

Office Location/Level

·The successful candidate for our Senior Associate role will be working out of Boston, MA

·The successful candidate for our Vice President role will be working out of New York, NY

Wage Transparency Statement:

Expected base pay rates for a Senior Associate will be between $110,000 and $150,000 per year and for a Vice President between $150,000 and $175,000 at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
