What you will be doing:

The Financial Reporting Manager will report to the Assistant Controller and be primarily responsible for coordinating with external auditors on audit deliverables, preparation of individual audited financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS, as applicable, provide US GAAP and IFRS technical accounting guidance, manage accounting for acquisitions and dispositions, manage the cash flow forecasting template used to determine distributions and prepare and review ad hoc analyses and reconciliations as necessary. This individual will work closely with General Ledger Accounting and other internal departments.

What we’ll expect from you:

  • Manage the accounting for acquisitions and dispositions, including preparation of all purchase accounting matters and reconciliation of final pro-rations. Review accounting entries to ensure accuracy and completeness in accordance with US GAAP, or IFRS as applicable.
  • Provide US GAAP or IFRS technical accounting guidance and be responsible to draft and review technical white papers to address accounting issues.
  • Responsible for coordinating annual property/portfolio audit with external auditors as well as managing the preparation of the individual audited financial statements. Includes developing timelines and templates for the reporting accounting teams, as appropriate.
  • Manage the preparation and completion of quarterly and annual reporting of the Company’s combined financial statements in accordance with US GAAP including the preparation of footnote disclosures.
  • Responsible for reviewing and managing the data inputs for the monthly portfolio cash flows templates, as well as preparing summary data reporting for the distribution committee.
  • Prepare/review ad hoc analyses and reconciliations.
  • Review and implementation of key controls as appropriate.
  • Participation in special projects including assisting with reviewing processes for process improvements and best practices.
  • Assist the Assistant Controller in different matters.
  • May be asked to assist in reviewing property level workpapers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university
  • CPA preferred, but not required;
  • A minimum of 7 years in public accounting, or mix of industry and public accounting, with strong background in preparing financial statements and researching technical accounting issues required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS and ability to research accounting literature
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; Yardi accounting software experience a plus, but not required.
