About the Position:
Reporting to the President & CFO, the Controller will oversee all aspects of the accounting department for the entire organization including insurance statutory accounting and reporting, closed door pharmacies, Third Party Administrator organization, Free Standing ER entity, and various other entities and will work to improve and establish the necessary processes for the department to run efficiently and accurately. This is an opportunity to grow your skillset and career in a fast growing organization. You will be responsible for leading and developing a team of high performing individuals looking for opportunities to learn and career growth. The Controller will be a motivational leader of an initial team of approximately 18 people and will ensure the appropriate infrastructure is in place to successfully grow and meet the needs of the members.
We are looking for an experienced leader with a solid knowledge of accounting processes and principles. The successful candidate will be highly organized and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Controller must have strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.
Select Responsibilities:
· Oversee administration and troubleshooting of the accounting system (NetSuite) and add-ons to ensure optimal uptime and proper training of staff on the system to maximize efficiency
· Build a strong accounting team by determining the right structure for the department and hiring and training the right talent
· Ensure appropriate foundation is built for growth including systems, policies and procedures and operating manuals and training
· Ensure all technical accounting issues are addressed and documented throughout the year – coordinate with outside auditors
· Ensure accurate preparation of consolidating financial statements including appropriate intercompany entries and agreements, general ledger, and accurate initial coding of entries at the transactional and general ledger level
· Seek areas to improve efficiency by improving workflow, setting up automation, or better using the accounting system to increase accuracy and efficiency
· Ensure rapid close process and reconciliation of accounts at month end through work being done throughout the month and accurate entries to prevent rework
· Build internal control system based on the model audit rule/SOX
· Serve as a liaison with other departments to ensure a timely flow of information and policies and procedures for improved information flows and protection of assets
· Oversee RBC calculations and IBNR and other insurance-related reserves and reinsurance matters, working closely with the risk management team
· Oversee various financial statutory filings including quarterly and annual statutory reports and medical loss ratio annual filing with CMS
Qualifications & Experience:
· Mix of public and private accounting experience; minimum of six years of supervisory experience, Big Four experience required
· Degree in accounting or other business related field
· Health insurance experience is preferred
· Enjoys learning and complex environments
· Prior ERP system implementation or administrator experience preferred
· Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills
· Ability to meet deadlines
· Adaptability and desire to learn new areas
· CPA license required
