The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose – HR Coordinator

The HR Coordinator aids with and facilitates the human resource processes at the Hayward Site. This role makes optimum use of human resources in the achievement of business objectives by administering, assisting in developing and implementing programs in the areas of recruiting, employee benefits, payroll, communication, employee recognition as well as securely maintaining personnel databases/records and performs administration functions for the site.

Responsibilities:

Human Resources:

  • Partner with HR Leader to support Hayward site with human resource services
  • Administer various HR plans and procedures
  • Responsible for securely maintaining data, data entry, and audit of sensitive information related to our employees
  • Responsible for working with new hires in the pre-boarding and onboarding process to make sure all information is accurate and company is compliant with employment laws
  • Completes employment eligibility documentation, including background checks, physicals, drug tests, I-9's and E-Verify in a timely manner
  • Coordinates New Hire Orientation and Exit Interview sessions
  • Perform payroll functions, document all required follow-up items, and prepare reports.
  • Runs periodic data audits of the Site’s HRIS data to ensure data consistency and accuracy
  • Assist internal and 3rd party auditors with HR information as needed
  • Assists clients and supervisors with accurate and timely completion of employee requests
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate HR contact
  • Special Projects: deliver HR initiatives through completion and create reporting to track progress
  • Provide guidance on personnel policies and procedures.
  • Perform benefit program administration including company group health, PPE, disability, leaves and WC, etc.
  • Coordinate Benefit educational and training sessions for the site.
  • Drive wellness program for the site.
  • Assist in recruitment activities; post and monitor candidate activity, screen candidates and schedule interviews
  • Maintain company organizational charts and directories.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings such as seminars as directed.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations and with Morgan Hayward, CA EHS Guidelines. Guidelines include but not limited to participation in required EHS training and use of proper PPE. Employees are responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and job-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor.

Office Responsibilities:

  • Various administrative duties, including greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, etc.
  • Answers and routes phone calls appropriately. Addresses concerns and supports resolution of questions or issues.
  • Handles routine inquiries (care / support, guidance, documentation, etc.)
  • Updates communication media as needed.
  • Coordinate company sponsored events with outside vendors.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support our team at all levels at the site.

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Familiar with HR principles and concepts—with 3 years’ experience in Human Resources.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Experience with ADP, ERP, HRIS, payroll, time and attendance systems, applicant tracking systems.
  • Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and FMLA/CFRA/ADA employee benefit compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format.
  • Must be able to work well with employees, peers and superiors in all departments of the Company.
  • Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company.
  • Must have good time management, planning and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Previous experience handling / working with confidential and sensitive information

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Bilingual with English and Spanish or Vietnamese

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for extended periods of time throughout the workday
  • Must have the ability to maneuver the shop floor, administer postings, and general administration throughout the facility.
  • Required to talk or hear.
  • Required to pass eye tests.
  • Required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Required to use finger, handle, feel & reach with hands & arms.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
