We’re just getting started in the US: We’re an agile full stack team operating like an early stage startup but with the financial, operational, and engineering platform muscle of a larger company. We’re focused on building an amazing US product, shipping and iterating quickly, and deepening our product market fit. We’re looking for highly driven, enterprising people to help us achieve our mission to make money work for everyone.

About the US team

We were founded to make money work for everyone! With that in mind, Monzo is investing to accelerate our US expansion! You will help build US-specific products that will shape the future of banking there.

As a Principal Product Manager reporting to the US CEO, you’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team to set big, ambitious goals for an entire product area, and have the freedom to decide how to meet them. You’ll own a big bet zero-to-one product for Monzo in the US. This will require you to go deep to build a truly remarkable experience that will resonate deeply with our US customers, innovate on its distribution model and steer its unit economics. If successful, you will change the trajectory of the whole company! You’ll operate with autonomy and have a massive impact on our customers’ lives and Monzo’s success.

What you’ll work on

  • Lead a cross-functional team to design, build and profitably grow a new product that deeply resonates with our US customers and elevates Monzo to a leading FinTech in the market
  • Work closely with your partners in Marketing, Design and Research to ensure we are creating and communicating the most important value propositions for our customers
  • Collaborate with the US CEO and other senior leaders to develop our US strategy
  • Be an active and influential leader within the team and foster our culture of accountability, support and a high bar for excellence
  • Collaborate with your peers across Monzo who can help you accelerate your progress and increase your odds of success (e.g., specific capabilities we don’t yet have in the US team, learnings, counsel, advice).

Requirements

  • You’ve got 7 years track record of building successful, customer-centric digital products in a fast growing company
  • You love the craft of creating remarkable products and businesses
  • You have excelled building and launching a remarkable zero-to-one consumer products (ideally a regulated one like financial services, healthcare, or similar)
  • You have the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively to a wide range of audiences, and in a structured way
  • You have the urge and resilience to challenge the status quo and make things better
  • You ground your thinking in data, facts and insights but are equally comfortable making decisions quickly if/when the complete/ideal data is unavailable
  • You can work effectively with a diverse range of people and working styles to get stuff done, and are able to thoughtfully and constructively challenge and influence the people you work with
  • You’re excited by the ambition of what we’re doing at Monzo and personal finance in general
  • You’re a fast learner, humble and curious, and enjoy developing yourself and others

The interview process:

Our interview process involves 3 main stages: 

Recruiter Call (30 mins) - Once you apply, one of our Recruiters will reach out to you for an introductory conversation. 

Initial Chat (45 mins) - This will be an introductory conversation with the hiring manager for this role.

Product Loop (1 hour 45 mins) - This stage consists of 2 separate interviews that usually happen across 1-2 days. This will be made up of one Project Walkthrough and a Behavioural interview. If you get through to this stage, your Recruiter will have a 20-minute chat with you beforehand to help you get ready and prepare for this stage.
