About the Position:

The position are TERM grant funded positions currently funded through July 1, 2024. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon renewal of term and grant funding and is not guaranteed.

This position is located in the Department’s Office of Eligibility & Support Services, Employment Services Program. The Employment Services Program provides oversight and management of assistance provided to Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) applicants and recipients, work-mandatory Non-Custodial Parents and Foster Care Youth as well as to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients.

These positions will serve as the public contact for the Office of Eligibility & Support Services, Employment Services Program in aiding individuals and families in the process of obtaining social and health services, giving information/guidance on eligibility for assistance programs, and providing assistance through workshop presentations as well as using various communication methods.

Primary Duties include:

· Extensive virtual engagement including telephone contact & email exchanges

· Exercise knowledge of subject matter and community resources for workforce development, childcare, food, clothing, shelter and other appropriate resources.

· Refers customers to Substance Abuse Treatment Services (SATS) program,

· Assess for appropriate work program or potential good cause,

· Monitors compliance with child support

· Helps in development, promotion & implementation of the 2 Gen approach & wraparound services for families

· May act as a systems navigator that can appropriately respond to customer needs

· Providing information and referrals, explaining procedures and increasing awareness of available program services

· Collaborates & participates in Local Workforce Development partnerships including representing the agency at American Job Center

· Resolve customer inquiries and complaints via phone, email and written service requests.

· Provide virtual and in-person assistance with federal/state and local benefit programs.

· Operate various federal/state/local database systems to retrieve and upload sensitive information.

· Maintain statistical data for program performance and analysis.

· Adhere to established customer service guidelines and procedures to exercise sound judgement, courtesy and timely response.

The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment medical exam and a drug and alcohol screening.

Montgomery County Ethics Law : Except as provided by law or regulation, the County's "Public Employees" (which does not include employees of the Sheriff's office) are subject to the County's ethics law including the requirements to obtain advanced approval of any outside employment and the prohibitions on certain outside employment. Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Two (2) years of experience providing delivery of social, health and/or public assistance services, one year of which involved the delivery of services specific to workforce development.

Education: Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria

The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas.

· Knowledge of Workforce Development /Employment Services Programs

· Knowledge of Federal, State and Local benefit programs

· Knowledge of database systems to determine program eligibility

· Demonstrated experience working with low-income households

· Proficiency in providing excellent customer service to a diverse population
