Montgomery County Government is Hiring a Human Services Specialist (Behavioral Health and Crisis Services, Specialty Treatment), Grade 23 Near Rockville, MD

About the Position:

This position is located in the Department’s Behavioral Health and Crisis Services division. The position specifically works in Specialty Behavioral Health Services which includes the Adult Drug Treatment Program, the Medication Assisted Treatment Program, and the Urine Monitoring Program.

Duties:

Vocational Assessment and Counseling Services : Responsibilities include: providing individual vocational evaluations and counseling; co-leading skill development groups; leading Vocational Assessment group and other groups as needed. Plans and recruits speakers for extended community meetings.

Liaison and Training: Responsibilities include providing group training on vocational matters, vocational consultation to staff, refers clients to and is the liaison with DORS, Montgomery College, and GED programs and other vocational programs.

Interest in Collaboration and Program Mission: Demonstrates a willingness to support the clinical team process.

Report Preparation: Provides all required reports, enters progress notes in NextGen, maintains database that documents client outcomes for employment. Demonstrates a willingness to take on other projects as needed.

Teamwork : Works cooperatively with other staff members and demonstrates a courteous and professional behavior with clients, colleagues and the public.

The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and a medical exam with drug/alcohol screening.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $67,206 (minimum) – $107,367 (maximum)

Montgomery County Ethics Law : Except as provided by law or regulation, the County's "Public Employees" (which does not include employees of the Sheriff's office) are subject to the County's ethics law including the requirements to obtain advanced approval of any outside employment and the prohibitions on certain outside employment. Minimum Qualifications

Experience: One year of experience as a specialist performing complex and responsible workforce development, human and/or social services work – significant experience with direct client contact is required.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria

There is no Preferred Criteria. All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated Qualified, placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for an interview.

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:

  • Experience working in a substance use/behavioral health treatment program and/or facility.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience i n Vocational Counseling.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
  • Skill in operating desk top computers and word processing, especially utilizing a variety of software packages, including but not limited to Access, Excel, Work, Visio, Power Point, Windows XP and Outlook 365.
  • Ability to deal tactfully, effectively, equitably and professionally with boards, commissions, committees, councils, agency personnel and the general public.
