Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School is Hiring a House Carpentry Teacher (MVP Academy) Near Fitchburg, MA

•Teaches house carpentry skills and knowledge full-time to students enrolled in Fitchburg, Gardner, and Narragansett Regional school districts in grades 11-12.•Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the competency-based course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district.•Develops lesson plans, maintain plan books, and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.•Demonstrates professional knowledge and competency regarding occupational materials, equipment, tools, and processes using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids in accordance with the house carpentry competency-based task listing.•Instruct pupils in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools, machinery, and equipment.•Grades and monitors student progress through the use of progress reports, report cards, and student competency lists. •Communicate with employers, parents, and school counselors on individual pupil progress.•Collaborates with the MVP Program Manager to ensure regular communication of daily attendance, quarterly grades, disciplinary concerns, and other information relevant to student records.•Participates in special education Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, where the teacher’s input is required.•Attends special education individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, where the teacher’s presence is required.•Provide supervision and extra help to students where needed.•Attends meetings as required by the teacher contracts.•Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position may require long periods of standing and lifting up to 50 lbs. The teacher may also be required to operate hand tools and motor equipment and may work in confined spaces with exposure to dust, smoke fumes, and gases.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Ten months, school year position (183 days).Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Teachers’ Contract.Fringe benefits as outlined in the Teachers’ Contract.EVALUATION:As per the Teachers’ Contract.
