We are currently seeking a Technical Sales Representative who will be responsible for process driven sales activities associated with the Bio Research product platform encompassing instrumentation, software, and related services. The focused portfolio includes microplate readers, both non-enterprise & enterprise-level software for data acquisition and analysis, as well as associated point of sale services; all providing scientists (research, screening, production, QC, etc) with comprehensive solutions including tools to assure data integrity and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 Regulatory Compliance Requirements. Additional products include robotic plate handling systems, microplate washers, microarray scanners, and reagents. As a member of the Sales organization, this role is responsible for building and maintaining strong customer relationships directed toward growing Molecular Devices’ market share, revenue, and profitability year over year in the following target market segments: life sciences, government installations, biotechnology, pharma, academic research labs, contract labs, some clinical labs.

Job Responsibilities :

• Achieve North America revenue goals and targets for the product platform in the assigned territory with balanced growth via both direct channel and distribution channel

• Performing technical demonstrations, training, installations, customer support on equipment & software as well as attending and participating in Regional and Local Product Shows

• Generate accurate monthly forecasting for the assigned territory. Results focused – consistently monitor territory metrics and take ownership of changes needed to succeed

• Perform lead generation activities including but not limited to eblasts, seminars, work days with business partners

• Results focused – consistently monitor territory metrics and take ownership of changes needed to succeed while maintaining an accurate and up-to-date customer database in Salesforce.com

Essential requirements of the role include:

• Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in Biology, Chemistry or similar Life Sciences discipline

• A minimum of 2 years of field sales experience selling into the life science or drug discovery industry. Pharmaceutical or Medical Device sales is also acceptable.

• This position will be located in listed territory, candidate must be willing to travel up to 40 to 50 % and be within 45 minutes driving distance to major airport. Overnight travel may be required.

• Experience in PowerPoint, Excel, Word & Salesforce.com CRM is preferred, with demonstrated data analysis capability.

Additional desired experience :

• Field sales experience with research instrumentation

• Knowledge of absorbance, fluorescence and luminescence, Western Blot & Imaging technology is a plus.
