Mitchell College is Hiring a Director of Institutional Effectiveness Near London, CT

Mitchell College is seeking a Director of Institutional Effectiveness, to begin in July 2024. This is a 12-month administrative in-person role reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate should be experienced in assessment, accreditation (NECHE preferred), and planning work and have an interest in contributing to institution-wide student success and retention efforts. S/he will be organized, highly motivated, able to work independently and take initiative, collaborative, positive, energetic, and have strong data-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The new hire will be responsible for managing data across all units of the campus in collaboration with other staff and will be involved in new and ongoing assessment and accreditation initiatives designed to make Mitchell College a leading example of institutional effectiveness and efficiency. The Director may have an opportunity to teach.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

•Lead, manage, and support compliance with all NECHE reporting; serve as the NECHE ALO.

•Work closely with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Dean of the College, and the faculty to develop, implement, and manage practices for the assessment of student learning outcomes and program outcomes

•Fulfill campus-wide data requests as needed to support assessment, retention, and accreditation efforts

•Support campus-wide planning efforts by providing historical data and projections to aid data-informed decision-making

•Serve as IPEDS Keyholder and site administrator and trainer for Anthology Planning tool

•Oversee campus-wide survey management and coordinate with the IRB Chair

•Other data collection, data analysis, and data reporting as needed

•Other duties as assigned by the President and the Executive Leadership Team

Required Education and Experience:

•Master’s degree from an accredited institution required; Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred. Disciplinary training in Educational Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, or Statistics preferred.

•Institutional accreditation experience required; NECHE experience strongly preferred

•Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant higher education experience, including institutional research, data management, predictive analysis, and retention/persistence efforts 

•Excellent statistical and analytical skills, with an ability to explain complex data analysis to a diverse set of constituencies

•Demonstrated knowledge of data collection and management as well as institutional reporting

•Knowledge and facility with diverse software and data retrieval systems

•Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently and to work collaboratively with various academic and administrative partners

•Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistics and modelling

•Excellent judgment, discretion, accuracy, and attention to detail

•Strong writing skills
