Mitchell College seeks a compassionate and motivated Human Resources professional to help improve community culture through initiatives that focus on employee wellness and satisfaction. The Benefits & Wellness Coordinator will be primarily responsible for administering employee benefits as well as help develop and implement programs and initiatives that supports the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of college employees. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Benefits & Wellness Coordinator will oversee and administer the college’s employee benefits programs including medical plans, retirement plans, supplemental plans (FSA, STD/LTD, etc.) and other benefits programs. This position will be expected to support employees by providing up-to-date benefits information and will act as liaison between the College, employees, benefits broker and carriers to ensure accuracy of all benefits enrollments. 

This position is part time (30 hrs./week), full year and includes a comprehensive benefits package. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommends, implements and coordinates human resource policies related to the benefits programs, including tuition waiver programs and retirement plans. 
  • Advise employees, answer questions, process paperwork and manager the open enroll process.
  • Deliver benefits presentation to new hires.
  • Develop and ensure implementation of programs needed to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and state/federal guidelines.
  • Coordinate employee leave in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Manage and maintain accurate benefits information in the ADP system. 
  • Prepare reports for analysis of critical functions and employee benefit needs.
  • Coordinate Worker’s Compensation claims and liaison with providers. 
  • Create and maintain physical new employee personnel/confidential/FML/Workers Compensation files. 
  • Assist in creating and implementing wellness events and activities that engage the community. 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or BA/BS degree in human resources, business or related field. 
  • 3 or more years of related experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of both benefits and the federal and state laws that govern them
  • Excellent written and communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.
