Job Overview:

The role of Lead Dental Assistant is to provide oversight, leadership, and mentorship to fellow dental assistants. To assist in the efficiency and functionality of the department and to help the department reach their goals set forth by the Doctor. This job description outlines the essential functions of the Lead Dental Assistant potion and the Core Performance areas the Lead Dental Assistant position is held accountable to. You will play a crucial role in overseeing the clinical operations and ensuring the highest level of patient care. This is a leadership position that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with both patients and team members.

Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and guidance to the clinical team, including orthodontic assistants and technicians

- Oversee the day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols

- Train and mentor new clinical team members, ensuring they are knowledgeable in all aspects of general dentistry.

- Assist with patient assessments, including taking medical histories, conducting oral examinations, and reviewing diagnostic records.

- Perform orthodontic procedures.

- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality

- Manage medical records, including accurate documentation of treatment plans, progress notes, and billing information

- Assist with medical coding and billing processes

- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals involved in patient care, such as pediatric dentists or oral surgeons

- Assist with medical imaging procedures such as X-rays or 3D scans

- Manages all lab cases and communicates directly with the lab

- Assit the front desk with phones, scheduling, checking in and checking out patients.

- Manage office inventory

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification as a Dental Assistant is preferred

- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role.

- Strong knowledge of general dental procedures, invisalign, and terminology.

- Proficiency in using Dentrix

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment

- Knowledge of medical coding and billing processes

- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 25 per week
