HUMAN RESOURCE (HR) BUSINESS PARTNER, Office of the Vice Chancellor (OVC), to advise and coach OVC managers and staff on HR policies/procedures and deliver a range of HR activities and services, including talent management, compensation, performance management, training and development, rewards and recognition, and employee relations. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing new employee orientation programs; managing and serving as a consultant to managers and staff on leaves of absence; advising on all aspects of the search process, including interviewing candidates and making employment offers; writing and reviewing job descriptions and making recommendations regarding classification; reviewing and following up on performance reviews and coaching managers on the process and how to address performance concerns; conducting new employee interviews and exit interviews; coaching/advising managers and staff on resolving conflict, performance issues, career development, and other issues; identifying training and development opportunities in support of talent management strategy and creating and delivering trainings; initiating and approving personnel actions and other transactional operations; tracking unexpended salary dollars; generating reports; database maintenance; and working on other projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: B.A.; four years’ progressive HR experience; in-depth knowledge of HR-related federal and state laws/regulations; excellent judgment with sensitive/confidential information and in providing consultative support; initiative; ability to build trusted relationships with staff at all levels, listen to and process issues without bias, and make sound recommendations; excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, event planning, and verbal and written communication skills; support for OVC’s commitment to supporting an inclusive workplace that values differences; attention to detail; and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and FileMaker.
