Missouri Employers Mutual is Hiring a Remote Claims Training Specialist (Remote)

Training & Development Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the preparation and design of training and reference material for the Claims department, including the onboarding of new staff, career advancement within the claims department, refresher training, and emerging training needs. May work collaboratively to schedule specific training from other members of the department or other departments of the company.
  • Design virtual, classroom and on-line instruction in conjunction with business partners and subject matter experts using proven training methods and techniques.
  • Facilitate and lead training events (classroom or virtual) using proven training methods and techniques.
  • Work closely with Claims department leadership to identify and prioritize training opportunities, conduct needs analysis, and establish a training strategy.
  • Develop regular communication with department staff to ensure their training needs are being met and to solicit feedback on any gaps in reference material, training material or training needed.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training programs. Summarize and report evaluation findings to Claims management and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Consult with Claims management to adapt or adjust curriculum to the unique development needs of an individual or team within the Claims department.
  • Keep all training material and all policy and procedure reference manuals up to date. Any system or policy changes will be updated electronically, and all reference material will be kept available online for use by the staff.
  • Prepare and administer assessments, quizzes, exams and post program evaluations.
  • Evaluate progress and readiness of training participants and make recommendations for any necessary retraining, additional instruction, or coaching.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to Claims staff during training and as needed.
  • Maintain assigned training catalogs and learning plans within MEM’s Learning Management System.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and current trends in field.
  • Identify and prepare additional facilitators or subject matter experts to deliver training to Claims staff when needed.
  • Work closely with Claims Product Owner on system enhancements, projects and changes that require department training.
  • Work closely with the Claims staff to identify issues or concerns and draft or update policies and procedures and guidelines as warranted to clarify proper handling.
  • Work in partnership with claims consulting to review QA results and trends to identify any training gaps, for specific Claims staff or the department as a whole and provide recommendations for clarification, and necessary training.
  • Assist in the planning and handling of quality assurance reviews as needed to identify training needs and provide feedback to managers.
  • Work in partnership with claims consulting to ensure that areas of development are identified and timely training and/or feedback is given to the appropriate parties.
  • Manage and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external customers and co-workers.
Other General Responsibilities
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as required to fulfill job functions as assigned by Claims management.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with prescribed company policies and standards.
  • Collaborate frequently and effectively with others both within claims and across MEM on projects, teams or special assignments.
  • Maintain complete and thorough knowledge of relevant systems and programs utilized in the management of claims.
  • Maintain complete and thorough knowledge of claims handling requirements in the states in which MEM operates.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred in business, risk management, human resource development, or a similar field.
Designations/Certifications:
AIC and/or AICM preferred. Certification in instructional design, training facilitation, talent development, or similar preferred.
Licenses
None
Experience:
10 years of claims experience in workers compensation required. Experience in conducting file reviews, presenting results, developing training documents and providing training.
