Missouri Charter Public School Association (MCPSA): St. Louis Regional Director
Opportunity
The Missouri Charter Public School Association (MCPSA) is looking for a St. Louis Regional Director who will provide critical leadership, support, advocacy, and services to our charter schools in the St. Louis region and serve on the leadership team of the organization.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced educator, nonprofit leader, and convener who has the technical expertise to know and understand charter schools while also identifying opportunities and solutions for schools to collaborate, improve, and advocate for improved conditions and support for the charter public school sector. We anticipate this position will spend approximately 60% of their time supporting schools, developing structures and opportunities to meet needs from the ground up, 20% of their time supporting schools in their communications, and 20% of time advocating for them both locally and at the state level.
The ideal candidate will have a school-focused mindset with a desire to support charter public schools and their needs. The candidate must have a desire to listen and learn from our schools so as to capture their needs and ultimately meet them. They must have a passion for access and choice in education, combined with a deep respect for charter public schools. To be successful in this role, the candidate will have a deep-seated commitment to leading with integrity and building strong relationships that engender trust in a flexible, entrepreneurial, and roll-up-your-sleeves environment. The candidate will reside and work in the St. Louis region, with occasional travel.
MCPSA
Founded in 2007, the Missouri Charter Public School Association (“MCPSA”) has worked to strengthen the charter school landscape in Missouri. There are currently 81 charter schools operating in the state: 39 in St Louis, serving nearly 12,000 students, and 42 in Kansas City, serving 13,300 students. Nearly forty percent of students in St. Louis and fifty percent of students in Kansas City attend a charter school. The mission of MCPSA is to improve student achievement by increasing access to high-quality charter public education options throughout Missouri. Our role is to promote and protect the conditions that will enable the public charter sector to thrive so that our schools contribute toward the common goal of all Missouri children having equitable access to high-quality schools. As of the end of 2023, we have completed a new strategic plan and vision for how we meet this vision and role. We are excited to expand our team and services, to best meet the needs of our schools, as they work to be a leader in meeting the needs of our students and families, so that they thrive academically and beyond.
