Missouri Cancer Associates is Hiring a Patient Services Coordinator Near Kirksville, MO

Overview:

Missouri Cancer Associates is a multi-specialty practice including medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology and urology. We have 22 providers that service ten Missouri communities. Our main office is in Columbia. Through state-of-the-art medical technology, highly experienced physicians and nurse practitioners and quality patient care, Missouri Cancer Associates has become the premier Cancer Treatment Center in Mid-Missouri. In 2022, we celebrated our 40th year of taking care of patients!

We are looking for a friendly and hard-working Patient Services Coordinator to join our Kirksville team. Candidates should have an outgoing and friendly demeanor, a positive work ethic, and have a track record of working well with others in a team environment. We prefer applicants who have some customer service experience, but we are willing to train the right person. You must exemplify the values of our company and provide patients with the highest levels of care.

Full Time / 40 hours per week (M-F, 7:30-4)

Missouri Cancer Associates is affiliated with Urology Associates of Central Missouri and the US Oncology Network!

SCOPE:

SCOPE: Under general supervision, is responsible for scheduling patient appointments and tests in an efficient and timely manner. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical staff. May include outside scheduling and/or surgical scheduling responsibilities. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business
Responsibilities:
  • Cancels/reschedules appointments according to physician schedule changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
  • Schedules all patient appts including office visits, labs, chemo, radiology & imaging services, biopsies, outside specialists, etc.
  • Ensures proper communication with prior auth team for any add-on appts.
  • Reminder calls for all appts 2 days prior.
  • Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.
  • Covers for other front office functions as requested.
  • Schedules outpatient appointments/testing/surgeries and hospital admissions upon request.
  • May communicate to patient about surgeries or tests being scheduled and potential prep work needed, inquiring about test specifics from necessary parties and gathering patient information as needed May be responsible for follow up on all pre-operative tests to ensure cleared for surgical procedure and communicates with physician and patients if further testing is required before surgery is performed.
  • May be responsible for scheduling post-operative follow up appointments with Physicians.
  • Where applicable, basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and surgical procedures, including coding and ability to look up codes specific to diagnosis, surgery and scheduling procedure.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum three years office experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding required. Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending, and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
