Milwaukee Excellence Inc is Hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional Near Milwaukee, WI

Special Education Paraprofessionals may assist students with a wide variety of activities; however, their
primary responsibility is to assist the Special Education Case Manager with instructional activities, including
small group and one-on-one instruction and assessment, as outlined in the Individualized Education Plans.

  • Knowledge of general learning and child development concepts, theories and fundamentals
  • Strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with mission and vision of the school.
  • Licensed to teach in the state of WI
  • Prior experience as a Teacher (highly recommended)
  • Capacity to supervise group work
  • Outstanding planning, conflict resolution techniques, problem-solving skills
  • Assess student projects with their skill level and style in mind

Support Goal Attainment - 60%: Support goal attainment and services outlined in Individualized Education
Plans.

  • Assists students on a one-on-one basis with various instructional activities
  • Provides for small-group instruction, in conjunction with teacher-prepared lesson plans
  • Provides specialized instruction and support as outlined in Individual Education Plans and Behavior
    Intervention Plans
  • Assists with planning and implementing instructional activities that are grade appropriate that support
    goal attainment based on disability-related needs
  • Administers make-up tests and lessons to students
  • Utilizes technology and media to enhance student learning

Provide Support - 15%: Provide support for instructional staff; assist teachers with instruction, student
assessment and activities.

  • Updates trackers with progress monitoring of student goals
  • Communicates data and observations with case manager, IEP team and parents as needed
  • Assists with grading assessments and entering results into student portal
  • Operates office equipment, as required
  • Provides basic and limited maintenance for computers and other instructional equipment, as needed
  • Distributes books and supplies
  • Assists teachers with the preparation of student folders and materials
  • Files paperwork for later use in parent-teacher conferences, as well as for permanent student records

Assist School - 15%: Assist School with School - Wide Systems (e.g. Arrival, Lunch, Dismissal, Bus, Hallways,
Bathroom.

  • Monitor all spaces to ensure safety and uphold MX Code of Conduct
  • Be a culture champion of demanding high expectations to push us towards achieving excellence
  • Sub classrooms when teacher is absent

Performance - 10%: Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

  • Attends training sessions, conferences, seminars, network and departmental meetings.
  • Meet with coach and other staff members during non-instructional times
