Job Title: Jr. Event Sales Executive, Arena Event Sales Summer Internship 

Class: Part-time, Hourly Non-Exempt

Reports To: Director, Arena Event Sales

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Summary:

The Jr. Event Sales Executive Internship will provide support to the Arena Event Sales department during the summer. The internship is focused on educating, mentoring, and developing future event sales professionals on the skills required to succeed in the revenue generating side of the private events business. Through consistent training and development with members of the team, Jr. Event Sales Executives will develop a sales pitch in which they are confident in and is centered around their personality. The internship includes the various responsibilities listed below as well as getting exposure to how the event sales and operations departments execute private events at the highest level. Work with the sales team to help achieve department goals and gain valuable exposure and experience that will help you upon graduation. 

The summer sales internship is a paid position and will be on the same schedule as our full-time staff, which means you will be able to take advantage of what a summer in Milwaukee has to offer. Key Responsibilities:

  • Make cold calls from lists of area companies provided to set face-to-face or virtual appointments alongside the full-time staff. 
  • Conduct appointments and tours of Fiserv Forum and Deer District rental spaces to assist in closing new business alongside the full-time staff.
  • Work with the Event Sales department to execute sales events for new and returning clients.
  • Develop strategies and business plans to increase event sales.
  • Conduct market research for new leads and opportunities to improve private event experiences.
  • Implement and demonstrate outbound sales efforts by using sales and service standard methodologies, prospecting, networking, lead generation, data capture, and personal database management.
  • Attend team and community events for the purpose of increasing sales opportunities.
  • Assist the Event Sales team with various projects.
  • Assist with prospecting and lead development for full-time staff.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university and must be an upcoming junior or senior as of Summer 2024.
  • Must be looking for sales experience within private event/hospitality industry (enrolled in a corresponding major a plus).
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with internal and external clients at all levels of an organization.
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to build a career in the private event/hospitality business. 
  • Ability to navigate the event venues to conduct client site visits and escort potential customers on event experiences both on event days and non-event days.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • Extremely coachable and eager to learn every day.
  • The ability to learn booking software system.
  • Proficient digital literacy skills including experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Previous experience working with hospitality industry, event planners, and direct corporate level decision makers a plus.
