Causa Justa Just Cause is Hiring a Clinic Receptionist Near San Francisco, CA

CJJC is hiring for a part-time, non-exempt position. The Clinic Receptionist provides counseling to low-income SF tenants for a wide range of tenant issues, including evictions, repairs, harassment, deposits, foreclosure issues, and move-outs.

The Clinic Receptionist represents the service part of the organization and is one of the main ways we connect community members to the organization and the work we do. The Clinic Receptionist is often the first point of contact for many folks who call the organization or drop in for help with their housing situation. As such, the receptionist has a unique position in learning about the housing issues that directly impact the community. This role is an important part of the clinic in making sure that people's needs are addressed and they can get the help they need, including providing outside referrals. The intention is that clients become members of the organization and participate in important work through our housing & immigrant rights campaigns, civic engagement, actions, member meetings, volunteering in the clinic, etc.

Working schedule
Tuesday 9- 5 pm, Thursday 9- 5 pm, Friday 10-2 pm
Tenant Rights Counseling

  • Receptionist clinic tasks:
    • Schedule appointments for people who come to the office and appointments that counselors need in person.
    • Make phone calls and send messages to clients to remind them about their appointments.
    • Fill out intake forms to gather information from clients.
    • Inform clients about upcoming workshops and other community events.
    • Coordinate with Lead Counselors to better support the needs of clients.
    • Provide information about tenants's rights and do an initial assessment of client issues
    • Maintain a neat and orderly reception area.
  • CJJ Membership:
    • Recruit members from the clinic
    • Fill out the Membership Application form for each new member
Self Organization
  • Work Planning
    • Allot proper time for different tasks needed to complete weekly priorities and adhere to indicated times.
    • Maintaining an updated calendar to reflect how you plan to use your time; this should reflect projected work for a minimum of 1 week.
    • Attend weekly counselors' meeting
  • Emails and Voicemail
    • Respond to communications on workdays promptly to clarify work-related issues - especially from tenants, CJJC staff, allies & other parties related to your work responsibilities
  • Proactive Communication:
    • Proactively communicate questions, needs, challenges, and setbacks in a timely fashion to your supervisor and those impacted by those changes
    • Ask clarifying questions regarding expectations in a proactive way
    • Come prepared to fully participate in organizational & team meetings
Requirements
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Minimum of 1 years experience working directly with diverse, low-income individuals
  • Proficient in Google Suites, Microsoft Office
  • Minimum 1 year of data entry/database experience and basic computer skills (using email, navigating websites like Google Calendar, etc);
  • Strong people skills and desire to serve the community
  • Openness to developing skills around office technology
  • Hard-working, self-disciplined, punctual, and able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
Compensation and Benefits
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. The pay is $31.25 an hour and will be determined by the applicant's experience.
