The central services that are shared amongst the companies include, but are not limited to, IT, HR, Accounting, and Finance. This position will be responsible for accounting, reporting, and analyzing results while also providing solutions that can influence business strategy for the Millborn portfolio.
This position will work closely with the Director of Finance and the CEOs of the supported companies and will oversee a small team of accounting staff.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations including: the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, managing a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, managing the accuracy of the Company’s reported financial results, and ensuring reports comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tactical
· Assumes responsibility for operations in US and Canada and integrity of multiple accounting systems including general ledger, foreign currency, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, credit, banking activities and reconciliation, and inventory including those located at the managed facilities.
· Develops, maintains, and utilizes a documented set of accounting policies and procedures, transaction processing operations and control systems.
· Develops tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CFO and leadership team.
· Oversees the development of the annual budget and forecasts and provides budget to actual results as requested. Interfaces with department leaders to prepare, analyze, integrate, consolidate, and track information.
· Manages the preparation, maintenance, and timely delivery of regular financial planning reports, including monthly reports and annual financial statements.
· Develops, calculates, and delivers reports reflecting financial and operating metrics, including benchmarking analysis conducted by the Company.
· Ensures debt and distribution payments are accurate and timely.
· Manages cash management processes by maximizing returns and limiting risk.
· Maintain and ensure fixed asset listings are up to date and accurate.
· Monitors bank covenants and compliance thereof and communicates related information to the CFO on a timely basis.
· Ensures management of, and compliance with Federal and State tax withholding and filing obligations including payroll, business, and multi-state.
· Works closely with the outside CPA firm during annual review/audit of financial statements (including preparation of schedules and account reconciliations) and tax return preparation and tax planning.
Strategic
· Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals and objectives.
· Maintain company’s financial stability and integrity through sound decision-making.
· Continually assesses and evaluates opportunities for providing additional data to assist operations and leadership team in decision-making processes.
· Establishes and ensures systems are developed and utilized to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems, functions, controls, and procedures.
· Identify areas of improvement and efficiency including processes and software improvements/upgrades.
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or other related field.
Required Knowledge
& Experience:
· At least five years accounting experience as Controller, Assistant Controller or Senior Accountant which included general ledger, cost accounting, budget management, financial reporting, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
· Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
· Experience preparing budgets.
Skills/Abilities:
· Experience with Great Plains, Sales Pad, and Microsoft BI is a plus.
· Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational and time management skills, and attention to detail.
· Energy and drive to deliver objectives on time and accurately.
· Able to manage multiple tasks and maintain control and order over same.

· Knowledge of and ability to use various computer programs utilized in fiscal management including spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software.
