Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Accounting Specialist at Mike Hollaway Custom Homes will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our operations. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing various accounting tasks, and supporting the finance team in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:

- Process invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements in a timely manner.

- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions to ensure accuracy.

- Communicate effectively with vendors and clients regarding billing and payment inquiries.

2. General Ledger Maintenance:

- Record financial transactions accurately and efficiently.

- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.

- Prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts.

3. Financial Reporting:

- Generate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management for decision-making purposes.

- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.

4. Tax Compliance:

- Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with tax regulations.

- Prepare and file sales tax returns, property tax assessments, and other required reports.

5. Process Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the accounting function.

- Implement best practices to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

- 2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in the construction industry.

- Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks, Buildertrend, and Microsoft Excel.

- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
