Midwest Laboratories is Hiring a Quality Control Tech Near Omaha, NE

Description

The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for performing overflow tasks of QC Analysts supporting department quality items including calibrations, verifications, mapping, and asset management. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Review and investigate Out of Specification Reports as assigned.
  • Review environmental monitoring data to ensure temperature and humidity are within set guidelines.
  • Perform secondary QC Review for client complaints entered in the Quality Management System.
  • Review laboratory staff training forms for correct quality procedures, process authorizations and staff Demonstrations of Capability.
  • Work with respective internal teams including Quality Assurance, Operations and Technical teams to prep for audits to ensure procedures are compliant to the accrediting standard. (ISO 17025, NELAC, USDA, FDA)
  • Upload Certificates of Analysis for departments as requested.
  • Documenting chemicals are fit for use, including, but not limited to maintaining expirations, storage conditions, and traceability.
  • Initiate Corrective or Preventative Action Reports when observed laboratory practices are in non-compliance with the respective procedure.
  • Create and validate spreadsheets, which may include basic functions, advanced formulas, conditional formatting, or macros.
  • Maintain respective laboratory training files and serve as a resource for use in the Quality Management System.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to Quality Control Supervisor as requested

Requirements

Education and Training: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (preferably in a scientific discipline)
  • ISO 17025 training preferred

Knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact and work effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to ask questions and challenge appropriately
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and make sound independent decisions
  • Analytical judgment, problem solving skills, accuracy and detail oriented
  • High level of proficiency with PC based software programs
  • Advanced laboratory skills

  • Able to maintain focus on key objectives
  • High level of integrity

Experience: 

  • 2 years laboratory or equivalent experience with strong proficiency in understanding standard operating procedures and methods
  • Experience working closely with accreditation standards (ISO 17025, NELAC, USDA, FDA) preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the phone and in group setting
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time as necessary in the laboratory (4 or more hours)
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to move body frequently around laboratory equipment and instrumentation
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgement and decisions
