Department: After School Care Job Description JD – ASCPD Title: After School Care Program Director Job Summary:The After School Care Program Director at Midland Christian School is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and administration of the After School care program, ensuring the safety, well-being, and enrichment of students in alignment with the school's Christian values and mission. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for nurturing the holistic development of children.Lines of Authority:Reports to the Elementary PrincipalEducation:High School Diploma or GED RequiredRequired Personal Qualities:

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working in a leadership role within an educational or childcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of Christian principles and a commitment to integrating them into program activities and interactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a preschool or early childhood education setting.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching practices.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Skills:
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Transportation:Reliable transportation. Physical and Mental Effort:The role of After School Care Program Director at a Christian school requires a combination of physical and mental effort to effectively manage and oversee the program while ensuring the safety and well-being of the students.Classification:Non-ExemptHours:This is a part-time, self-contained position. School Year: Monday-Friday: 2:00-5:30.
Essential Functions
Essential functions of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following functions. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Program Development and Planning:
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate, engaging activities and programs that align with the Christian values and educational goals of the school.
  • Create a structured daily schedule that includes homework assistance, recreational activities, arts and crafts, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to assess the needs and interests of students and adapt program offerings accordingly.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the After School care program to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
  1. Staff Management and Supervision:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of After School care staff, including assistants and volunteers.
  • Provide guidance, support, and ongoing professional development opportunities for staff members.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and address any issues or concerns in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, and excellence in service delivery.
  1. Student Support and Supervision:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students participating in the After School care program.
  • Establish clear behavioral expectations and enforce discipline policies in accordance with the school's guidelines and values.
  • Provide academic support and assistance with homework completion as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting character development, leadership skills, and spiritual growth.
  1. Communication and Collaboration:
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents, keeping them informed about program activities, policies, and schedule changes.
  • Collaborate with school faculty and staff to integrate After School care programming with the broader educational curriculum and school community.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and committees as needed, representing the After School care program and contributing to the overall mission of the school.
  1. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
