The Rise Resident Advocate: is responsible for enhancing the residential stability, increasing income, increasing skill level and to promote the capacity for self-determination of resident head-of-households within the transitional housing program. The Rise Advocate provides empowering services to our residents in the transitional housing program.
Required Qualifications:
● Knowledge of the impact of domestic violence for children and families
● Must be highly reliable, professional, mature, reflective, and able to work well with others
● Excellent communication skills, empathy, self-awareness, ethical responsibility and judgment
● Excellent listening skills, problem-solving skills
● Understanding of survivor-advocate confidentiality
● Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse individuals
● Proactive and passionate work ethic
● Commitment to ongoing cultural competency training and continued education
● Reliable transportation
● Basic computer/database skills
● Understand the dynamics of sexual violence
● Experience in serving or working with families experiencing domestic, sexual violence and or human trafficking, including male survivors
● Expertise in working with folks in the LGBTQIA community
● Understanding of incarceration, addiction, and recovery
● Knowledge of local community resources
Responsibilities:
· Assist residents with goal setting and development of an action plan for realizing those goals.
· Assist/build residents conflict resolution skills
· Administers strengths and needs assessments
· Provide information, referrals and advocate for residents (within the agency as well as outside the agency)
· Plans and facilitates in-house support groups, workshops, resident meetings, and service projects.
· Participates as necessary, in all programs/activities at The Rise. including but not limited to on-call and afternoon phone and door rotations.
· Participate/attend resident’s necessary appointments as needed
· Facilitate transportation to necessary appointments
· Attend all-staff meeting and other meetings as directed and or needed
· Work closely with other advocates within Middle Way House
· Data Collecting for grant reporting software
· Completing Grant reports
