Mid-State Industrial Maintenance is Hiring an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician Near Lakeland, FL

Job Summary

Electrical & Instrument technicians are responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating electronic equipment and gauges that control, regulate, and/or monitor a mechanical system.

Essential Duties Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, isometric drawings, engineering instructions, and manufacture instructions.

  • Installs, repairs, maintains and calibrates electronic equipment, controls, and measuring devices.
  • Tests and analyze electronic and measuring equipment for accuracy and functionality.
  • Knowledge of motor starters, VFD's PLCs, be strong in troubleshooting, schematics, and diagrams of machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems.
  • Completes reports on tests, repairs, and installations for all work requested to complete.
  • Responsible for compliance with NFPA 70E

Position Highlights:

  • Must have 7 years experience in instrumentation/analyzer/electrical.
  • Must be familiar with DCS operations for troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Must be able to work on low- and high-pressure tubing/piping systems.
  • Must be able to work with precision instruments and tools.
  • Must be willing to follow all company and project work policies and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have 7 years experience in instrumentation or illustrate a comparable level of knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of site practices relative to contractor coordination and site materials procurement process.
  • Capable of programming and writing logic, wiring panels working from mechanical RWD. Siemens, Allen Bradley Plc's is a plus
  • Must have experience using Microsoft Office software.
  • Required to have all journeymen tools and have experience with associated power tools.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and P & IDs, isometric drawings, and other required documentation.
  • Must be able to check performance using testing and measuring instruments and make necessary adjustments.
  • Must have knowledge of electrical theory and how to apply it to connecting, wiring, and calibrating electronic devices.
  • Must have knowledge of working with gauges and other measurement devices.
  • Will as needed work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off of platforms. Will work at heights up to 300' utilizing proper fall protection.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fall arrest harness, face shield, earplugs, and goggles.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment

  • Location is at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, FL.
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary (Monday Sunday with some overnight work) and overtime is frequently required.
  • Working environment is often in harsh elements (hot/humid and/or cold temperatures, rain, etc.) Industrial environments often have exposure to hazardous chemicals, moving heavy equipment, and other safety-sensitive hazards/risks. Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, you will:
    • Frequently use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.
