About the Job
Applies the principles of accounting within an assigned area of accounting or group of funds. Creates and interprets moderately complex financial statements and reports. Specializes in a specific area of accounting. Compiles financial information, processes journal entries into various accounts, reconciles reports and financial data.
Job Roles:

• Exercises accounting control over a group of accounts within a given specialized area.
• Develops financial reports for financial analysis, trending and results analysis.
• Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
• Records, classifies and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.
• Participates in the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process.
• Prepares and processes journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Prepares various balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Analyzes and reports general ledger account fluctuations.
• Works with controllers to ensure appropriate corporate accounting structure and intercompany reporting best practices are in place.
• Reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolves differences.
• Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and or format data and/or reports.
• Performs ERP testing and recommends solutions
• Knows the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures.
• Researches issues, discrepancies and resolves problems as well as recommend solutions or elevate to manager for discussion and resolution.
• Analyzes project costs, revenues and gross margin.
• Assists segment controller researching and reviewing project billing and AR aging.
• Interact with external and internal auditors on various audit requirements of the group.
• Ensures compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
•Expert in Excel
•Able to prepare financial reports to be submitted to Management
•Able to review work or journal entries from other acountants
•Detail oriented
Preferred:

• Oracle Experience

EXPERIENCE:
5 years as Accountant for similar business
EDUCATION/LICENSURE:
BS in Accounting or Equivalent
