Description

Plant Director - Food Manufacturing Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve operational objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with senior management to align plant goals with company objectives and ensure operational excellence.
  2. Production Management:

    • Oversee all aspects of production, including scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation, to meet production targets and customer demand.
    • Implement best practices to optimize production processes and maximize efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.
  3. Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company quality policies to uphold product quality and safety.
    • Implement quality control measures and drive initiatives to reduce defects and improve overall product quality.
  4. Maintenance and Engineering:

    • Manage plant maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and process enhancements.
  5. Safety and Environmental Compliance:

    • Champion a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the plant.
    • Implement safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  6. Financial Management:

    • Develop and manage plant budgets, including labor, materials, and overhead costs, to optimize financial performance.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  7. Employee Development and Engagement:

    • Lead, coach, and mentor plant staff to foster a high-performance culture and develop future leaders.
    • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and open communication to create a positive work environment.

Profile

Plant Director Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Food Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in plant management or operations leadership within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and achieving production targets.
  • Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and drive financial performance.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is desirable.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, FDA, etc.) and experience implementing safety programs is preferred.
