Responsibilities:  
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the entire Subways system by providing leadership and support to all Subways divisions across various shifts. This leadership is achieved through a comprehensive program of audits and inspections that encompass three key areas:  
Right-of-Way: This includes a thorough examination of tracks, signals, and other infrastructure elements to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to all safety regulations set forth by federal agencies and industry standards.  
Facilities: Regular inspections of stations, yards, shops, and other subway facilities are conducted to verify compliance with NYCT building codes, fire safety regulations, and accessibility standards for passengers with disabilities.  
General Workplace: Workplace safety is paramount, and inspections will ensure a safe environment for employees. This includes adherence to proper equipment usage, hazardous material handling protocols, and overall housekeeping standards.  
The ultimate goal is to monitor and report on divisional compliance with a wide range of regulatory requirements, NYCT standards, policies, and established procedures. This ensures the smooth operation of the subway system and protects the safety of both passengers and employees.  
Furthermore, this position actively collaborates with all Subways divisions on special projects whenever necessary. These projects might involve implementing new safety initiatives, improving operational efficiency, or addressing unforeseen challenges within the system.  
By meticulously evaluating current policies, procedures, rules, and processes, the role holder plays a vital part in guaranteeing ongoing compliance. Additionally, they provide direction and support to facilitate a seamless transition when new safety products are introduced, ensuring proper training and implementation across all divisions.  
 Education and Experience:  
A baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, or a related field with six (6) years of experience of which three (3) years must have been in an administrative/supervisory/managerial capacity -or-  
A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.  
Desired Skills:  
 
We are searching for a highly qualified individual with a comprehensive understanding of NYCT and Subways regulations, procedures, and policies. This individual will possess hands-on experience in addressing technical difficulties, upholding safety protocols, and navigating labor agreements. They will demonstrate a strong understanding of hazardous materials handling and asbestos abatement procedures. While a college degree is a plus, extensive experience in safety or labor relations, especially within the public transportation industry, is highly desirable. Excellent communication and proficiency in relevant computer software applications are essential for success in this role.  
 
SelectionMethod: 
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview. All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MaBSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
