Metropolitan Family Services is Hiring a Social Worker/Counselor I or II (Senior and Family Caregiver Program) Near Wheaton, IL

We are now hiring for a full-time Social Worker/Counselor I or II to join our Senior and Family Caregiver Program with our DuPage Team!

The Social Worker/Counselor I or II will provide home, office and community-based clinical and educational services to seniors and senior caregivers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Does comprehensive, in-depth assessments for a variety of program services. Does intake as assigned.
  • Provides group services as indicated by program need.
  • Provides mental health assessments, individual and family therapy, case management and client centered consultation services.
  • Provides a full range of case management, counseling, advocacy, educational, and related services.
  • Identifies and utilizes agency and community resources.
  • Joins or develops groups and coalitions to address community needs.
  • Recommends financial assistance for clients
  • Represents and interprets programs of agency in community.

  • May serve on regional or agency-wide committees.

  • May perform a variety of administrative tasks including student supervision.

  • Meets agency expectation for quantity of direct service and/or funder deliverable expectations.

  • Assesses community conditions affecting clients to identify resource gaps and problems.
  • This position requires two (2) evenings per week.
  • No on-call or weekend hours required.
  • Complies with agency record keeping expectations.

  • Works effectively with diverse staff and service population.
  • Assists team to market services in the communities we serve.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited college or university, required.
  • Two years related post-Masters experience at an intermediate skill level, preferred.
  • Social Worker License (LSW or LCSW) preferred. 
  • Employment with MFS requires proof of vaccination or an approved Medical exemption, required. 
  • Must have access to a vehicle, proof of insurance and valid driver’s license to perform essential job functions, required.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • This position requires some travel and requires mobility to work with a community-based caseload.
  • Ability to maintain assigned community and home-based services.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • MFS staff are required to provide proof of vaccination or have an approved Medical exemption prior to starting employment. If an approved Medical exemption is obtained, weekly testing may be required. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 SALARY:

  • Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $54,000.
