Opportunity
We are seeking a Cleaning Technician to join our team. The Cleaning Technician is responsible for the performance of the day-to-day cleaning of the physical facilities and grounds of the development. These responsibilities will be performed in a manner consistent with the policies of MetroPlains the direct supervision of the Community manager or Area manager. The caretaker will be an employee of the management company; however, compensation will be an expense of the housing development.
Responsibilities

  1. Maintain building and grounds in good clean order.

  2. Walk through halls and laundry rooms daily and pick up the areas.

  3. Vacuum, sweep and mop hallways and laundry rooms every other day.

  4. Make sure that work by service providers is done regularly including garbage collection, snow plowing, grounds maintenance, and maintenance repairs.

  5. Shovel snow, use snow blower, rake leaves, pull weeds, pick up litter as needed, sweep sidewalks and trash enclosures at least weekly; more often if needed.

  6. Walk the grounds daily. Keep grounds free of debris and keep dumpster area picked up.

  7. Clean maintenance areas, garage, mechanical rooms, and storage areas.

  8. Replace burned out light bulbs and wash out fixtures.

  9. Check smoke detectors and fire extinguisher annually. This will be coordinated with the managers.

  10. Prepare units for rental to the following criteria (when requested):

  11. Assure the cleanliness and good repairs of vacant units. Work orders to be reported to supervisor. Clean the unit including bathroom fixtures and floors, kitchen cupboards (inside and out), appliances (inside and out) and floors including moving appliances and cleaning the back and sides of the appliances and the wall behind the appliance and the floor under the appliances), wash windows inside and, where possible, outside. Report needed repairs to supervisor if a work order has not already been received. Vacant units must be in move-in condition with no outstanding work orders.

  13. Notify the manager of needed cleaning supplies.

  14. Employee shall become familiar with and follow all applicable federal, state and local fair housing laws and shall refrain from discriminating against any applicant, resident, vendor, contractor, other staff member or other person on the basis of race, color, national origin, creed, religion, sex, age, marital status, familial status, disability, status with regards to public assistance, ancestry, or sexual orientation.

  15. Must possess a positive attitude and a "can do attitude".

  16. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  1. Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds on a regular basis; on occasion will lift up to 100 pounds

  2. Must be able to shovel and remove snow where geographically applicable

  3. Requires walking through buildings and exterior grounds on a daily basis

  4. Must be able to bend, stretch, stoop, lift and reach on a frequent basis

  5. Will involve expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
