Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Review patient charts and documents for accuracy
- Ensure that all CPT & ICD-10 codes are current and active
- Report missing or incomplete documentation
- Meet daily coding production
- Performs accurate charge entries
- Ensure proper CPT & ICD-10 coding on provider documentation
- Serves as a resource regarding insurance resolutions and coding questions
- Handles co-pays, balances, and charge posting
- Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Follow-up regarding claim status
- Identifying and resolving any and all outstanding issues preventing claim resolution
- Obtain information about patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility.
- Communicate benefits information to patients
- Performs additional duties assigned by Billing Manager as needed
Qualifications
- Medical Coding Certificate; RHIT or CPC by AAPC or AHIMA license; meet state licensure requirements
- Maintain coding certification and attends in-service training as required
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
- Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
- Strong computer skills in data entry, coding, and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software
- Accurate and precise attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
